Two years before I'ma Tim Robinson recorded any of the songs on the EP, his uncle Paul Robinson left him a collection of creative voicemails. Instead of deleting them, Tim saved them, at the time not knowing exactly why.

Uncle Paul left these messages before he'd even written some of the songs on the EP, but it was not until after he'd recorded and mixed most of the record that he realized the theme of this collection correlated perfectly with the thread of his uncle's messages.

In its eventual sequencing, the dynamic flow the listener experiences is organic and rich with ancestral magic. "Songs for When I'm Gone, Vol. 1: Messages from Uncle Paul" is a tribute to the Robinson family legacy, from the perspective of nephew and uncle in this day and age.

This album is a soundscape of mood, memories, epiphanies and honest cares...making more vulnerable the heart on their sleeves and making themselves seen.
